The old monastery of San Jose in Valencia

was opened to the world in the name of Convent Carmen,

which redefined the monastery in a new narrative way that gave consideration to design,

history and nature. It is not only a cultural space,

but also a restaurant, or a hotel,

subverting the expression of this traditional architectural type.

The minimalism of the studio began with the church,

which was set as the main entrance, hinge and multi-functional space.

The independent metal frame reinterprets

the original form of this 17th century religious building,

 clearly conveys the contemporary lines,

and adds new connotation to the space of the Renaissance.

The new structure integrates all audio-visual technology elements

and the expressive RGB color lighting system,

so that it can be changed in form and emotion.

It is designed to act as a longitudinal and transverse guide wire,

with metal profiles of different sections,

and coated with black enamel.

Beside the church, there is an independent and spacious garden.

From the intervention of abandoned churches to the prosperity of their rural gardens,

they consciously provided places for explosive social activities.

In a green and ecological natural environment,

small buildings based on containers gather around the large arbors that accompany them,

creating a romantic and poetic lighting effect for tourists.

Following the street concept of "food truck",

three food spots are drawn in the form of containers.

Each container is responsible for making different types of food.

Visitors can sit around these food containers.

The whole cooking process is coordinated by

the prestigious chef Miguel Angel Mayor (Michelin 1 star),

who provides the method of integrating food,

including street food, Andalusian fried food,

Japanese sushi and high-grade chicken dishes.

Customized furniture is strategically placed in the garden,

including various high stools, long tables, low tables, sun lounges and swing shaped suspension seats,

so that it can be integrated into each area without modifying its geological structure.

This furniture is designed according to the tubular metal structure

and the surface of phenolic board dyed black,

which forms a sharp contrast with other plant elements in the place.

After nightfall, the environmental lighting is turned on,

and the sunset has a new meaning in the city garden.

In the same way as the church,

the environment will be completely different from

the daytime through the controlled RGB color lighting system.

The trees are illuminated by exquisite lights,

making them the protagonists of the garden,

and scattered in the arbors and bars, accompanied by tourist activities.
