As the saying goes, "a penny for goods", in everyone's subconscious, expensive things are good. But sometimes tough technology is more important, like a solid building, good architecture doesn't need to be very expensive. Container construction is the best example.
The famous architect Matt Elkan has launched a beautiful home on the south coast of Australia with a unique shape: it is transformed from four containers. While keeping the budget as low as possible is a priority, it is also crucial to minimize the impact of housing on the environment. The local landscape of the building is not excavated, and four containers are strategically arranged to take advantage of natural lighting and passive temperature regulation.
The container house has a floor area of 1000 square feet and can accommodate up to 10 people. The architect used natural wood as insulation on the flat roof, and the whole building did not contain any VOC finish. The exterior of the house is painted dark grey, and the box door remains in its original state for further use. In order to save water, there is a container behind the building that can store 500 liters of water on site.
The interior of the house boasts its industrial origins. The full windows of the house are full of natural light, providing a powerful bridge to connect the beautiful scenery inside and outside. At the same time, these French windows can also be hidden through large container doors to protect the privacy of residents at any time.
The wooden deck of the living room leads to the bedroom, further integrating the interior and exterior of the house. The walls and ceiling are decorated with wooden plywood and wave board alternately, so that you can feel the metal properties of the house indoors. Sliding farmhouse style door brings modern feeling to home environment.
After each sliding door is the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom, all adopt the minimalist style, and the container is perfect match. The toilet is equipped with moisture-proof plywood to provide the service life of the residence. The huge glass windows in the bedroom bring perfect natural light to the space.
