In the expansion of old buildings, containers are an excellent material,

easy to install and disassemble, and highly customizable.

From South Africa, Lina Marie and Neil live in

a bungalow of 90 square meters on a family farm.

However, with the birth and growth of their two children,

they began to find that the land was no longer enough,

so they decided to expand the area of the house

and chose the container as the expansion material.

How to establish a connection between the modern shipping container house

and the existing cabin is a problem that the couple need to consider

when renovating the old house. In doing so,

neither of them wanted to destroy the features of the hut built in the late 1700s.

For this reason, Rina Marie made an idea: she hopes to build a very modern building,

which can clearly see the difference between the old and the new,

instead of building a new house to adapt to the hut and make it look older.

This design can also better retain the attraction of the existing house.

Generally, the construction of container houses is not limited by the number.

These unique houses are sometimes built with

one container and sometimes with 10 containers.

The main consideration is the demand for space.

As the splicing container module needs to consider the retention of the container wall,

the container wall needs to be customized according to the house layout during construction.

When building a new container building,

the most important feature of the house is its roof,

which is a triangular roof like the old building.

Therefore, when we look at the house,

the roof attracts more attention than the container.

The container building adopts a large area of glass window design,

so that the front of the house is almost transparent,

bringing sufficient natural light and scenery to the interior.

The design concept of the project is to

connect the new buildings transformed from containers to the rear of the old buildings,

and use the steel frame structure to keep the old and new buildings on the same level.

The two buildings are connected by a panoramic glass corridor.

The interior design of the new container building preserves

the transition from the old house to

ensure the integrity of the house as from the past to the future.

This design has continuity, rather than simply expanding or renovating the old house.

The new container building includes a living room, kitchen, bedroom and spacious bathroom,

which can meet all living needs independently.

The interior decoration is very simple and elegant.

Unlike the dark exterior, the interior of the house is decorated in full white.

At the same time, the white background in the house also forms a harmonious

and perfect landscape with the wood design.

You can enjoy the outdoor beauty through the panoramic glass window in the house.
