When a young family from Vancouver decided to leave the city and move to the mountains with full -time, they want a home that can balance the simplicity of the hut and meet the comfort of the main house. A small company in Vancouver Evoke International Design can provide them with a family that is both modern and closely connected to the rugged landscape that the family calls the family.

This house is located in a small area on the mountain, about 10 minutes by car from Whistler and Blackkom Ski Area. From upstairs, you can enjoy the scenery of two mountains. In order to make full use of this unusual venue, the designer configures the layout of the house vertically. The garage and entrance are located at the bottom, the bedroom is located on the second floor, and more public areas of the house are on the top floor.
The living room can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the forest and the mountains, and the burning furnace allows the region to maintain a comfortable winter in British Columbia.
Gilbert's House is covered with matte black wood and concrete, located on a steep venue.
The steep slope of the venue does not provide the opportunity to courtyard or garden, which is not a problem for the ski house used in winter, but it is not ideal for the whole year's house. In order to solve this problem and provide some outdoor space for residents in the summer, the designer connects the top floor with the other parts of the house at a 90 -degree angle. "This enables us to have a south -roof terrace to maximize the use of sunlight and landscape," said David Nicolay, the founding partner of Evoke.
The floor window is sufficient and the vision is wide.
In addition, the cantilever part on the third floor provides a better vision and more sunlight for the internal living space. In order to reflect the traditional ski hut building in the region (featuring a large number of small wooden houses and wooden buildings), while maintaining a modern sense, Nicholas chooses to cover the building with cedar. The floor, wall and ceiling inside are covered with light -colored oak boards.
The minimalist material palette is a sign of the Evoke International Design project.
The modern living room is equipped with a wooden burner and a kitchen island on the marble table. The floor -to -ceiling windows in front of the sofa are increased to the maximum of light, so that the family can enjoy the scenery of the coniferous forests and the distant mountains at a glance. The effect of a limited material palette and a sparse layout is a very simple modern space. Nicholas said that it is in line with the aesthetics of his company.
