On December 22, the "Mediterranean Phoebe" ship berthed at the Qianwan Container Terminal of Qingdao Port successfully completed its 19454 TEUs in port operation, marking the successful breakthrough of 2 million TEUs in container volume of Mediterranean Shipping in Qingdao Port in 2023, setting a new annual high and injecting new momentum into the accelerated construction of Qingdao Port as an international shipping hub in Northeast Asia.
In 2023, Mediterranean Shipping added 5 new routes to Qingdao Port, with over 50 vessels handling over 20000 TEUs per voyage or vessel. In response to the frequent berthing of large container ships in Mediterranean shipping, Qingdao Port fully leverages its operational advantages and steadily improves the efficiency of ship operations. Among them, in the newly added Indo Pakistani routes, Qingdao Port Qianwan Container Terminal set a new record for ship hour efficiency of 198.89 natural containers per hour on the route; In the operation of the "Mediterranean Ambra" ship, the efficiency of 305 natural containers per hour broke the global record for the highest efficiency of the 2M alliance Mediterranean route.
Since the beginning of this year, Qingdao Port has consistently provided high-quality, efficient, and convenient services to major shipping companies, fully supporting them in increasing their route layout and capacity investment in Qingdao Port, actively building global strategic partnerships, and jointly building a global end-to-end supply chain and ecosystem for ports and shipping.
