Hapag-Lloyd to increase container rates from Indian subcontinent and Middle East to North America

Recently, Hapag-Lloyd of Germany announced the implementation of a new General Rate Increase (GRI)/General Rate Adjustment (GRA) from the Indian subcontinent to the west coast of the United States and Canada.

From January 18, 2024, an additional fee of USD 200 per container will be added. The new GRI/GRA will be applicable to 20-foot and 40-foot dry, refrigerated and special containers.
Additionally, the company announced a $1,500 per container freight increase on the following routes:
From the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East to the U.S. East Coast and Gulf Coast, effective January 19, 2024;
The Indian subcontinent and the Middle East to the east coast of Canada, effective January 1, 2024.
