According to quick statistics, in 2023, the container throughput of Shanghai Port exceeded the 49 million TEU (standard unit) mark, ranking first in the world for the 14th consecutive year.
Behind the frequently refreshed data, it represents the continuous improvement of the functions of Shanghai International Shipping Center and the continuous improvement of global shipping resource allocation capabilities. Currently, Shanghai Port's container routes cover more than 700 ports in more than 200 countries and regions around the world, with more than 320 liner departures and departures every week. Various shipping elements are highly concentrated, and shipping service levels continue to improve. In line with the new development trend of green, low-carbon and smart shipping industry, Shanghai Port has accelerated the implementation of new business formats such as green fuel refueling services, promoted the iterative upgrade of smart terminal construction, and continued to lead the global trend of green smart terminals.
In the past six years of operation, Yangshan Phase IV Automated Terminal, the world's largest single unit, has insisted on optimizing production while at the same time, and has become the most comprehensively intelligent automated container terminal, with annual throughput and operating efficiency at the leading level.
As an upgraded version of Yangshan Phase IV, the first phase of the SIPG Luojing Port Container Terminal Renovation Project, one of Shanghai's major projects, will be completed at the end of 2023, which will open up new space for the high-quality development of Shanghai Port and future container volume growth. . In the new year, SIPG will further upgrade the Luojing Port area, achieve a higher level of independent controllability of the smart terminal, and make every effort to improve operating efficiency, making it the second "super-large, smart terminal" after Yangshan Phase IV. A "green and ecological" container port supports the stable and healthy development of Shanghai International Container Hub Port and promotes the leap of Shanghai International Shipping Center to "comprehensive completion".
At the same time, SIPG has always integrated green and sustainable development concepts into port development. Shanghai Port has become one of the first ports in the world to have LNG (liquefied natural gas) offshore bunkering capabilities, and has jointly built the world's first cross-border cross-border pipeline with the Port of Los Angeles. The Pacific Green Shipping Corridor and the joint construction and sharing of a green shipping ecosystem continue to achieve substantial results.
Facing the future, as the world's leading container port operator and the pioneer in the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center, SIPG will empower Shanghai Port's business development with new technologies, new regions and new business formats, accelerate key core technology research and technological upgrades, and consolidate Deepen the status of Shanghai as an international container hub port, strive to build a world-class green, smart and resilient port, and improve the service level of Shanghai International Shipping Center.
