According to statistics from the Yangshan Port Maritime Safety Administration, in 2023, Yangshan Deepwater Port safely entered and exited 8,767 international shipping container ships, a year-on-year increase of 4.2%, of which 1,568 were ultra-large container ships with a loading capacity of 18,000 TEUs and above. , a year-on-year increase of 18.6%, and 14,457 container ships safely entered and exited the inner branch line, a year-on-year increase of 20.8%.
According to the Yangshan Port Maritime Safety Bureau, the continuous increase in water vessel traffic is driving the vigorous development of the port. At the same time, the water traffic situation has become more complex, which has put forward higher requirements for the port's navigation capacity. The Yangshan Port Maritime Safety Bureau launched The "four pairs" (two-way navigation, double-speed berthing, double-set berthing operations, and double-window unberthing) service initiatives have effectively solved the bottleneck problem in navigation capacity during the development of Yangshan Port.
In June 2023, the Yangshan Phase IV automated terminal implemented "double-speed berthing" for internal feeder container ships, realizing the "four-double" initiative covering the entire port area. In 2023, Yangshan Port Maritime Safety Bureau implemented a total of 719 two-way navigation vessels, 945 double-stage berthing operations, 2,210 double-set berthing operations, and 437 double-window unberthing operations.
Currently, Shanghai's status as a shipping hub port continues to be consolidated. Shanghai Port's container throughput will exceed the 49 million TEU mark in 2023, ranking first in the world for the 14th consecutive year. In addition, Shanghai Port's container routes cover more than 700 ports in more than 200 countries and regions around the world, with more than 320 liner departures and departures every week. Various shipping elements are highly concentrated, and shipping service levels continue to improve.
