Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port District Customs (Waigang Customs), a subsidiary of Shanghai Customs, revealed on the 3rd that it recently seized a batch of undeclared imported fruits weighing about 7.8 tons.

On the same day, customs officers at foreign ports inspected a batch of incoming fruits declared as "fresh dragon fruit" and found that the packaging of the goods on the outside of the container was significantly different from the packaging of the goods on the inside, and it was suspected that undeclared goods were hidden.
After a thorough on-site inspection, it was found that in addition to dragon fruits declared for import, the above-mentioned containers also contained undeclared goods such as avocados, lotus seeds, grapefruits, etc., which were suspected of evading customs supervision. After counting, the batch of goods totaled 784 boxes, including 158 boxes of undeclared avocados, 100 boxes of lotus seeds, and 298 boxes of grapefruit, weighing about 7.8 tons. At present, the hidden fruits have been destroyed according to law.

According to Article 7 of the "Regulations on the Implementation of Customs Administrative Punishments of the People's Republic of China", those who evade customs supervision by hiding, disguising, concealing declarations or other means, transporting, carrying, or mailing goods or articles that are prohibited or restricted from entry or exit by the state, or who must pay taxes in accordance with the law The import and export of goods and articles constitutes smuggling. If the circumstances are serious enough to constitute a crime, criminal liability will be investigated in accordance with the law.
