The impact of epidemic on container transportation?
2023-12-25

Container, as the core element of maritime trade, is self -evident. However, with the spread of the epidemic, the container transportation industry has encountered unprecedented challenges. International container transportation prices have soared, and it is difficult for my country's export containers. To deal with this dilemma, all parties are trying to crack the problem of shipping outlets and speed up the turning efficiency of the air box.

On August 10, 2021, the Shanghai Port Northeast Asian Air Box Transport Center officially settled in the Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone of Yangshan. This center will provide empty box repair services in the port, and operate in block according to the needs and characteristics of various shipping logistics companies. The move is to solve the seasonal shortage of box shortage caused by imbalance of import and export boxes.
The problem of missing boxes has always been the pain point of the shipping industry, especially at the peak of shipments. However, the impact of the epidemic on the global logistics network has led to an intensification of empty boxes. The bottleneck mainly lies in the stagnation of foreign port logistics, which leads to the slow return of the empty box.
The establishment of the empty box transfer center has brought hope to the industry. It will help relieve the pressure of container supply and demand and prepare for the future recovery. For Shanghai Port Group, in addition to ensuring the efficient operation of ship loading and unloading, it also needs to better serve the market and meet the actual needs of import and export enterprises.
In order to improve the resource allocation capabilities, Shanggang Group has made full use of its position as the world's largest container port to cooperate with the shipping company to optimize the empty box strategy. As an important route to Europe and the United States, Yangshan Port is between China and Europe and the United States. Such a geographical advantage provides favorable conditions for the aircraft transportation.
In addition to the construction of the empty box base, Shanghai Port also actively planned the construction of the empty box platform and the branch center. By coordinating the empty box resources of the social stacking, we hope to provide more flexible empty box strategies.
Yan Jun, deputy secretary of the party committee and president of Shanggang Group, said that in the future, the Shanghai -Hong Kong Northeast Asian Air Box Transport Center will be committed to four aspects: First, strengthen capacity building, joint venture cooperation with the shipping company to make up for the shortcomings of the empty box; second It is to promote the construction of informatization and build an empty box to regulate the transportation platform; the third is to deeply cultivate the customer's market, with customer needs, and establish and improve the air box operation mechanism; the fourth is to optimize the port business environment, strengthen government -enterprise cooperation, and improve supporting policies.
In short, in the face of the challenges brought by the epidemic, the container transportation industry is actively seeking solutions. Through measures such as strengthening cooperation, optimizing resource allocation and informatization construction, I believe that the industry will gradually go out of the predicament and lay a solid foundation for future development.
