The origin and development of mobile homes
2024-02-01
Mobile homes have long been popular in the United States and can be traced back to the early days of electric road travel. It comes from a travel trailer, a small module with wheels that is often used for camping.

This type of house arises due to the need for the house to be mobile. This kind of house is usually sold to people whose daily lives are uncertain. Their work and life are mobile, and fixed houses are not very suitable for them.
From the early 1950s, such houses were marketed as affordable housing, built and placed in one place for a long time, and even assembled with stone building foundations. Previously, units of this type were 8 inches or less wide, but in 1956, 10-inch (3-meter)-wide units were introduced along with the new term "mobile home." This type of mobile home is square in shape and made of spray-coated aluminum alloy plates, rather than the streamlined appearance of a travel trailer. It is usually assembled and then painted. This helps distinguish mobile homes from travel trailers.
In the 1950s, mobile homes were first popular in Europe, and then gradually developed into developed countries such as Canada and Japan in the 1960s. Prefabricated houses entered China in the 1960s and were initially mainly used for temporary residences. With the development of new products, prefabricated houses were gradually used in offices, security booths, warehouses, etc.
After 2000, the real estate industry gradually developed rapidly, and opportunities for the development of mobile homes emerged.
